Friday, February 5 — Spoke to Morning Optimist Club on West Jefferson about John Thornton Walker. The audience was terrific. I should be speaking to high schools about him. Piddled around in the office, mostly on Facebook which IS taking too much time these days. About 10:30 went up to Intake Rm and sorted more clippings and scraps. The new arrangement from yesterday inspires me to spend more time sorting. It’s easier. I was wearing business clothes and didn’t want to risk getting paint and glue on them; another reason to shun modeling. Saw a C-17 arrive and photographed it parked on this other side of the airport from the Terminal side fence. Back to office and at lunch: the other half of the meatball sandwich from yesterday’s visit to Terminal Subway, heated in lounge microwave and mighty tasty! But it made me very sleepy. I slept short of four hours last night, my mind mostly on my Optimist Club presentation, Made a mental blueprint and stuck with it when I spoke. Not much sleep last night didn’t worry me because I knew I could “crash” (sleep) here at the airport later in the morning or afternoon. I have also decided to take only “head on pillows at desk or table” naps, at least for now. The cot which was generously given me is out of my way and in another room now. I napped in my chair with head on pillows about an hour, and it did restore me. Back to sorting clippings, I don’t know why. SHOULD HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THE NEXT LINCOLN FLYER NEWSLETTER, but I was not inspired to work on it. I was inspired to do what I want to do. I HAD to get the book presentation behind me, and I have to work most of SaturDAY at employer. Got a call from “Larry” who was with the 183d TFG, has been taking lots of F-4 pictures, and wants to visit AKM next Tuesday; also to get some negatives of his scanned and donate some things to AKM. He asked me if Ihave a light table. I said YES, but I didn’t say it’s been in storage in a spare room for the last three ye ars. . Told him it would be ready when he visits. So after sorting another hour in Intake, I brought out the light table device and REARRANGED part of the PROCESS Rm. to set it up where it needs to be: next to the computer and scanner, a perfect place. To do that I moved a LOT of books, a few cabinets, tons of pictures to a new location in Process Rm after breaking down MANY model shelves and PILING MANY models in process all over the room! MAJOR EFFORT. I left a huge mess for me to finish re-arranging this weekend. This will be a MAJOR NET IMPROVEMENT for AKM, a MAJOR PLUS, and it all happened because a nice former 183d member wants to come visit next Tuesday. I decided to go home about 7 via grocer and get some more Carlo Rossi and food. The Melatonin tablets I bought last week are NOT working as I was told they would. Maybe this is just a nutty week for me. That said, it was a fabulous day for AKM. Day rating A-.
Pictured below is the visiting C-17.
