April 6

Wednesday, April 6 — In at 8:45 after the first rocky night in a while. Moderate rain, nothing on the ramp. Got ready for a visit by Illinois State Military Museum people, including Curator Bill Lear, assistant Alex, volunteer and friend Michael Luke and Director Stewart Reeve. Had a TREMENDOUS visit of an HOUR. Coveredallthemostimportantbasesveryfast. WONDERFUL! They departed at 11. Could have spent two hours with them and still left things unsaid, but I believe I will see every one of them again. Processed Aviation News and World War I Aero in Periodicals Room until 6:15. Came down and processed pictures taken during the visitors’ tour. The model club went okay. Went home at 9:25. Day rating A.

No time to post pictures today. George wants me to work 9 to 5 today, Friday and Monday which means EIGHT HOURS a day fewer hours here at AKM. it’s a mixed blessing: hate to be away from the museum, but I need the larger paycheck, even though I won’t see a penny of it for two weeks.
