April 12 – Illinois State Military Museum visitors

Tuesday, April 12 — In at 6:30. It’s a new day, thank GOD. Calm, clear, Seneca V and 172 from last night on the ramp. Logged into inventory recently donated magazines. Had a wonderful visit with three small business owners from Chicago who had just arrived to attend a conference where Gov. Rauner was going to speak. Fantastic conversation and happy learning. Lots of questions followed by lots of answers and smiles. The woman – WOW!!! 🙂 – shook hands with me at the end of the visit when the hotel van arrived to take them into the city. Marvelous 15 minutes! Continued with magazine processing. Worked arranging model paints THE NEW WAY in Process Rm 11 to noon.  Ate lunch from home. Went home at 1:45 to meet a friend who promised to help me set up the TV in the living room where I haven’t sent a minute of time since last November. We decided I need a new adapter box, so I’ll get one in the next few days. Back to AKM about 3 and processed magazines. A beech Premier 1A pilot (who loves the airplane) after landing at SPI for the first time, visited AKM and had a terrific visit. Back to processing magazines like a man possessed and stopped at 8:45. Still have a lot to do with the magazines, but there’s no reason to knock myself out. Tremendous addition of many issues of Combat Aircraft magazine. Can’t wait to start reading some of them! I’m months away from that. Very happy with how the day went. Had a nice chat with a friend who has an office down the hall. Some days here I feel I’m serving a sentence in solitary confinement, but not today. I has been exceptional. Left for home at 9:05. Day rating: A.

Pictures are of Illinois State Military Museum Director Stewart Reeve, Curator Bill Lear (no kidding), Michael Luke and Alex who visited AKM a week ago. It was an excellent visit, and I look forward to more meetings with them as the future unfolds.
