Friday, March 11 — In at 8:25 just as three CH-47s from Peoria Army National Guard were landing. Photographed their departure. Beautiful sunny, perfect sun position. One of the pilots flew the Chinook included in my Springfield Aviation with the US flag underslung. Another pilot is a Springfield fire fighter. about six of the men visited AKM, great visit. They were on their way by 9:00. Had an eye doctor’s appointment, went to it and was back by 11:30. Five minutes later, Larry T arrived from northern Illinois arrived to copy F-4 slides so I missed lunch, ate cookies and later finished a cup of coffee while he worked with slides. Later I started work on a Revell kit of an early MiG-21. While downstairs to get my coffee, saw and phot’d a just arrived Phenom 100. While I was phot’ing it from the fence, rec’d a phone call from a friend who wanted to chatchatcatchatchat. Had to explain I was in the middle of a circus of a day and he promised to call back later. As Larry was leaving the crew of a Citation VII approached the office and I showed them the Welcome Room. The pilot saw my guitar, so we got it out and he played a terrific jazz tune he had written, and I played/sang my song parody “Send in the Cows.” Had a fine conversation and spent 10 minute on the ramp with the crew phot’ing the VII. Back to office to process pictures and was making good progress when the passengers of the VII came in and had an extended conversation and chat with them. Took their picture. VERY nice people, especially Monica. Resumed processing pictures and stayed with it until leaving at 8 for home. Another incredible day, but I really need some volunteer HELP out here! Day rating: A
